Here we are, a week into 2015. I hope everyone’s year is off to a good start. Do any of you participate in the whole resolution thing? I haven’t really cared to since I was a kid. It was usually something like I will be a lot nicer to my mother. I was kind of an angry kid and often took my anger out on my mom since she was the closest person to me. Well, you know kids and not keeping promises. That resolution barely made it to the end of the week before I broke it.
This year I decided to partake in this custom that everyone seems to look at as a joke. I’m announcing it to everyone so that I have to keep it. I vow to work on my book everyday this year, for at least 5 minutes each day. Since I know it won’t always be possible I made sure to add this- if I am to miss a day or two I will tack on those 5 minutes I missed to the next day I am able to write. So far it has worked out, but it has only been a week. So people, I’m requesting that you keep me in my place and ask about it once in a while. I will be in a good place by the end of this year if I keep to this resolution. I may even finish the first draft which would be a huge accomplishment.
Besides that, if you follow me on Instagram you know that I have been up to no good lately, creating a few new recipes. I thought it was about time I start posting some recipes again. You may be wondering if the morning sickness stage is still plaguing me. I’m happy to report that it is not. It only lasted the month of November and since then I have been feeling pretty great. I think this morning sickness stage was even shorter than what I experienced with little tummy. I’m now 14 weeks pregnant, or otherwise known as the second trimester. I like to refer to this time as the I’m-not-actually-pregnant stage. I say this because I don’t feel or look pregnant. It’s a wonderful time to get things done before reality hits again. I’ve been doing all sorts of cleaning and organizing, getting things ready, and checking off things on the to-do list. This great feeling won’t last long though. Soon I will be exhausted beyond belief taking care of two little ones under two.
Before the recipe, I have some exciting news! Papa tummy was accepted into the nursing program at CU! He was 1 of 120 out of the 600 that were interviewed and out of the who knows how many people that applied to the program. It’s only a little competitive. He already has his bachelor’s so this will be an equivalent to a master’s. He will begin the two-year degree this June, right before the baby is due to arrive. This is just another check mark on our timeline plan. Yes, my type A personality actually made a timeline for all the things we want to accomplish for the next 10 or so years. He had some doubts about getting accepted this time around, but I never thought twice about it. They would’ve been making a big mistake passing him up again. With that said, I will basically be a single mother of two for the next two years since papa tummy will be working full-time to continue supporting us AND going through what I understand to be a very rigorous nursing program. Once he’s done though, it will be so worth it.
Anyway, back to the recipe. While I was going through my mild case of morning sickness there was one thing that made me feel instantly better. It took away my nausea and gave me some energy back. That is why I’m calling it The Morning Sickness Cure Smoothie! This is actually papa tummy’s recipe since he made it for me. He didn’t even measure anything so I had to make him guess. He has made it a few times since trying to perfect it for me to share. It mostly consists of the normal things I put in all of my smoothies with a few new ones to address some pregnancy-specific problems like mood, sluggishness, and constipation. Sorry if that’s TMI, but it’s true.
Because I wasn’t feeling well, and I wasn’t the one that made this, I didn’t take a picture of it. However, I did manage to take a picture of little tummy enjoying some of it. This was the first time she ever had chocolate and I’m pretty sure she’s hooked. She tried to drink the whole thing and was quite upset when I wouldn’t let her. That smoothie stache is adorable though.
