The scariest most wonderful event is going to take place in a few months. My husband and I are going to be parents! Well, parents to a less hairy being that we have created ourselves that is. We have had a fur child for quite some time now that answers to the name Longhorn. I’m not sure how she’s going to react once she finds out that there will be a new center of attention occupying the house. I am confident she will make an awesome big sister though.
Being a mom is the career I have always dreamed of. I was one of those crazy women that picked out names and bought baby clothes without even being in a relationship. Luckily I ended up marrying a man that was not bothered by my hobby of planning so far in advance. Bonus: he expressed his desire to be a father as much as I wanted to be a mother. Double bonus: he even liked the names I chose for our unborn children. Of course if he didn’t I’m not sure I would have married him. After a few moves, getting married, buying a house, and going through plenty of other stressful occurrences life hands out it’s finally happening. However my ultra planning abilities failed us slightly. We got the month right but the year is a little off. This little bundle of joy is arriving to the party two years early.
If I didn’t tell people that I am pregnant I don’t think they would know. I’m barely showing for being in my 25th week. According to the midwife everything is on track though. I’m having a pretty easy pregnancy compared to the dramatic stories I’ve heard. Morning sickness was low key and didn’t last long. No crazy hormones making me an emotional nut case… yet. I am however tired often but I blame that on work, school, and lack of sleep. I believe my compassionate tummy has a lot to do with the uneventful baby making I’m experiencing. That has not been scientifically proven so don’t take my word for it. All I know is that it’s working for me and I wouldn’t change a thing. Both me and baby are happy and healthy.
I haven’t received all the unwanted comments about being vegan AND pregnant that I expected to get. Hopefully that’s because the people that know me know that I am a well-informed individual that wouldn’t do anything to harm our little one. I was really worried what our midwife was going to say about my chosen diet due to all the close-minded medical professionals I hear about. It turns out she doesn’t care what I eat as long as I am getting the essential nutrients I should be. No problem there. We are not a junk food veg household. Minus the occasional, okay daily, craving for sweets.
With that being said I plan on sharing all the wonderful things we eat with the world, baked goodies and all. Home of the Compassionate Tummies is about more than just food though. In addition to our awesome menu I will be writing about other things that consume our time. However food is still the main inspiration for this blog so don’t despair, I promise to provide plenty of drooling opportunities. Despite what some may think other topics do cross my mind and I like to share those thoughts as well. Being a person of many interests it’s sure to be unpredictable.
